I am a Construction Manager with ISG Construction and over the course of the last 2½ years I have worked closely with TVC on two Major Projects, one in Bristol and one in Cardiff.
The Cardiff project was a £60m building that is to be used by BBC Wales as its new headquarters and media centre. The BBC building included the construction of a suspended slab to create the ground floor of above a basement along with the jump form construction of three seven storey concrete stair and lift cores and concreting of all the metal deck floors on the multi storey steel framed building.
TVC also supplied and installed all the PCC staircases for both buildings. TVC have a positive attitude towards getting the works completed in line with the programme and fully resource the project with supervision and appropriate operatives to achieve the targets set. The TVC workforce are compliant in the use of PPE and the use of safety equipment as required.
Risk assessments and method statements were provided by TVC for all site activities and these were communicated to the workforce along with regular tool box talks by TVC management.
If the need arose and changes needed to be made to RAMS then the TVC management would amend and re-issue accordingly. A number of training sessions were arranged by TVC to ensure the workforce were fully equipped and trained to carry out the required tasks. TVC have their own internal safety advisor who regularly visited site and produced reports of his visits.
The quality standard of works was set early on and agreed by production of samples for approval before construction started. The standards of finish achieved to the face of the finished concrete was generally in line with specification and industry best practice.
